POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Banquets, the successful candidate will be responsible for setting, serving and tearing-down of the banquet functions according to the standards of the Pan Pacific Vancouver.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities of the Banquet Server include but are not limited to:
- Maintains professional internal/external guest service: smiles, creates eye contact, and uses employee/guest names
- Attends briefing of banquet and reviews function sheet
- Ensures proper equipment is available for function
- Carries out “prep work” - ensures items such as water, cream, bread and butter are prepared for function
- Serves function (food and beverages) and cleans out function room
- Checks with Captain regarding next function, Collects equipment needed and prepares for next function
- Attends to guest complaints; Ensures attentiveness to each table at all times
- Trains new staff in proper procedures
- Ensures all duties on task list are completed;
- Understands the need and willingness to work in other related outlets during peak periods when required (ie. Oceans 999, Coal Harbour Bar, Room Service, etc.)
- Performs other related duties as required

- Individual must be able to work with minimal supervision and be highly self-motivated
- Must be extremely well organized and detail oriented and completes all duties in a quick and efficient manner
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Contributes an energetic and positive attitude to the hotel atmosphere
- Candidate must demonstrate initiative, with the ability to anticipates guests’ needs
- Maintain professional business confidentiality as required
- Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy trays and tables; Involves long periods of walking and standing
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications and Technical Experience
- “Serving It Right” Certificate required
- Food Safe certification considered an asset
- Fluent spoken English is mandatory; additional language(s) is considered an asset
- Must have previous experience as a food and beverage server (minimum 1 year food banquet server experience preferred), with sound Food and Beverage knowledge
- Knowledge of function preparation and room set-ups will be considered a strong asset; Second language an asset
- Bartending considered an asset
- Cashier duties with debit/credit card machine considered an asset
