At the Kamloops YMCA Downtown, we believe staying healthy should be easy and convenient for everyone. That's why we offer drop-in child minding services six days a week. The Playcare Attendant will greet and welcome visitors, communicate clearly with parents, and anticipate needs of children and encourage positive play between children of various ages.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:
- Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures including The Child Protection Policy
- Do activities with children such as reading books, arts and crafts and playing toys
- Assist children with toileting and hygiene
- Comfort upset children and fetch parents when needed
- Taking toys out to be cleaned and sanitized in 5 gallon pails
- Wiping down tables, chairs and small equipment
- Sweeping and vacuuming the floors and carpet
- Bending and twisting to pick up toys on the floor
- Perform emergency procedures within their trained ability without hesitation.
- Perform any and all related duties assigned by the Head Lifeguards, Aquatic Supervisor, or Aquatic Director.
- Lifting babies and children up to 40lbs
- Current Emergency First Aid certificate (valid within 3 years)
- Experience working with children
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
- 3 professional references
