The Planner I is responsible for supporting the management of key micro schedules and the overall detailed schedule. They will be working across multiple projects, specifically the Joint Support Ships (JSS), Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel (OOSV), and the Polar Icebreaker in support of the rest of the Execution Planning team. The role will involve working in Microsoft Project to update schedules in line with specific instructions from end users and the Execution Planning team. There will also be involvement in supporting the Ship Completions Planning Manager to document business processes by creating workflows based on instruction from the Execution Planning team. The role will directly report to the Ship Completions Planning Manager.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What you'll do
Support the development of key micro schedules covering specific compartment completions or system installations.
Support the weekly management of the micro schedules including input of progress, updating of forecasts, and running of progress sessions.
Support Testing and Turnover (T&T) Schedulers to roll up micro schedules so that they are reflected within the Integrated Management System.
Supports the documentation of defined process documents which will be held within the Quality Management System.
Supports key meetings related to the details of the micro schedules.
- Diploma or Technical certification in Trades or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 -2 years' experience working within a Planning team.
- 1 -2 years' experience working within a Shipbuilding environment.
- Achievement of PMP Certification or similar would be beneficial.
- Basic understanding of standard planning practices, theories and terminology.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Project.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Suite of tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical abilities.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Strong commitment to the business deadline of critical deliverables.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and integrity.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800 - $90,200 . In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
