The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. Our team consists of more than 350 staff members and over 150 volunteers. Position Summary:
To supervise/lead individuals in conditioning centre-based activities that assist them to reach their health and fitness goals in spirit, mind and body.
Responsibilities:
- Provide quality, consistent member service.
- Prescribe individual exercise programs for members tailored to meet their needs and goals.
- Provide high quality programs that reflects the YMCA standard of excellence.
- Arrive for scheduled appointments prepared and on time.
- Watch for and offer corrections to all members using equipment incorrectly, inefficiently or unsafely.
- Build rapport with members to provide a comfortable atmosphere and working relationship.
- Exhibits a professional and positive attitude.
- Shows awareness of and consideration for the opinions and feelings of others.
- Speaks clearly in delivery of programs and sessions.
- Use effective communication and questioning skills when members are seeking advice or during consultations.
- Communicate in a positive and friendly manner when offering training feedback or when enforcing Conditioning area rules.
- Wears appropriate uniform at all times.
- Receives feedback positively and modifies behavior accordingly.
- Responds appropriately, maintaining composure at all times.
- Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintains current CPR and Standard First Aid Certifications.
- Maintains current Personal Training certifications and Continuing Education Credits and submits updates as they occur to the Supervisor.
- Attends all staff meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring to the position:
- College Diploma or Degree in Fitness / Health, Kinesiology and Muscle Physiology and Exercise Prescription.
OR
- YMCA Personal Trainer Certification or other nationally accredited Personal Trainer Certification recognized by the YMCA.
Experience:
- Experience working with post rehab and cardiac patients an asset.
- Sport specific training an asset.
- Body composition testing an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Requirement of Standard First and CPR Level C.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
