Position Description
As a Patient Information Clerk, you will be the first point of contact when patients and families arrive. You will facilitate the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to patient cluster staff and patients/families. Supporting the operation of the department, you will provide clerical and administrative functions in a proactive and organized manner.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Act as a liaison between patients/families and the CCCU and PICU staff
- Assist patient/families within your scope
- Maintain patient charts, as well as electronic and paper patient information
- Answer the phones
- Page providers and services within the hospital
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Register patients when bridge calls are initiated
Here's What You'll Need
Essential Requirements
- Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment
- Experience with patient registration systems
- Basic proficiency with computers (ie Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365)
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent telephone communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities
- Focus on teamwork a must
- Ability to be self-directed, flexible and take initiative
- Attention to detail and efficient time management
- Strong customer service orientation
Assets
- Diploma from a recognized Medical Administration program
- Medical Terminology certificate
- Prior experience with EPIC
Employment Type
- 0.1 FTE, Casual
- Shifts include day, night, weekend, statutory holidays, and varying shift lengths
