Driver Requirements
- Commercial Driver’s License: A Class 1, 2, or 4 license is required. You can take the Class 4 (restricted) test in your regular vehicle.
- Vehicle Standards: Your vehicle should be no more than 10 years old and must pass an annual inspection, which Coastal Rides can reimburse after your first 10 trips.
- Insurance: You’re covered by ICBC insurance while en route to or with passengers.
Compensation and Structure
- Owner-Operator Pay: You earn 73% of the fare after a $2.75 booking fee.
- Minimum Compensation: Drivers are guaranteed a minimum of $20.88/hr and $0.45/km during engaged time and distance.
- Standby Compensation: Full-time drivers who work 30+ hours per week are eligible for standby pay at $18.27/hr.
