Counsellor/Resource Worker: Assumes the responsibility for providing personal support services to women and their children. Responsible for providing counselling services and access to community resources that will assist women in meeting their needs. Work in harmony and cooperatively with the director and other staff in carrying out the responsibilities.
Employment Requirements
-Preference will be given to candidates who possess an applied counselling certificate or equivalent, other certificates or experience may be considered.
-Training and/or one (1) year experience in program development would be an asset but not required.
-Ability to relate well to people in stressful situations and at time of crisis
-Possesses or willing to obtain First aid and CPR certification
-Possesses or willing to obtain crisis intervention training
-Excellent Interpersonal and listening skills
-The ability to prepare reports and letters
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Ability to work independently and as a team
-Possesses an understanding of domestic and family violence
-Awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity with a strong understanding of women's issues
-Possesses a non-judgemental attitude
-A valid class 5 drivers licence would be considered an asset
-A working knowledge of computers and software applications is considered an asset
-Successful applicants will be subject to a criminal record, child abuse & adult abuse registry check
