We are seeking a permanent, part-time Page at the Ashcroft Library who will create a welcoming environment and a superb library experience for all.
Reporting to the Branch Head, this position ensures that materials are on the shelves for patrons and staff to find. The Page helps direct customers to the things they want, and provides good customer service. Other responsibilities include cleaning and minor preparation of routine displays of library material, clearing abandoned material from public areas, answering directional questions and referring information questions to appropriate staff, photocopying materials, and checking in/out library materials, and packing/unpacking shipments. The Page interacts with the public and may occasionally deal with challenging situations. This position is physically demanding.

- Wednesdays: 13:00 - 17:00
- Thursdays: 13:00 - 17:00

- Minimum of Grade 12 diploma;
- Valid Driver's license;
- Customer service experience and a passion for helping others;
- A belief in the importance of literacy;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and diffuse difficult situations;
- Computer skills; and
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods;
- Ability to lift 20-25 lbs.
The position is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the BC General Employees' Union, Local 705.
The Page position is a Pay Grid Level 3 which is $19.70 - $21.75/hour. Non-benefitted staff receive 18.2%-21.2% in lieu of annual vacation, statutory holidays, sick leave, and benefits as per Article 25.8.
