Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent patient care and supporting the optometrist in various administrative and clinical tasks. Duties:
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment
- Collect patient information and update electronic medical records (EMR)
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and lensometry
- Assist with contact lens fittings, instructions, and ordering
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens insertion/removal, and general eye health
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and organization
- Assist the optometrist during eye exams, including documentation and charting
- Provide support in frame selection, fitting, adjustments, repairs, and sales
- Process insurance claims and verify patient eligibility for vision benefits
- Maintain inventory of optical supplies and assist with ordering as needed
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an optical or medical office setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of optical terminology, lens types, frame styles, and lens options
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated
- Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
