Position Summary
The Indigenous Relations Administrative Coordinator provides administrative, coordination, and logistical support to the Indigenous Relations leadership team and ensures efficient administrative processes within the work unit. The role also supports Indigenous engagement efforts, cultural events, and community partnerships. The incumbent assists in the preparation of reports, Indigenous-led initiatives, policy tracking, and ensures culturally appropriate practices are integrated in daily operations. This position contributes an Indigenous lens to City-wide work and supports the delivery of kâ-nâsihtikawin Treaty Principles. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide administrative services, including research, documentation, calendar coordination, report writing, and file management.
Support the drafting and reviewing of Council reports related to Indigenous commitments.
Maintain tracking systems for service levels, deliverables, and activities.
Coordinate logistics for meetings, Indigenous events, travel, ceremonies, and community engagement sessions.
Assist with organizing and supporting internal and external Indigenous engagements, including Elder Advisory meetings and cultural protocol adherence.
Participate in planning, implementing, and promoting Indigenous events, recognition days, and internal awareness initiatives.
Provide accurate information, track performance, and respond to information requests from stakeholders.
Uphold culturally appropriate communication and assist with promoting City-wide Indigenous learning and participation. Key Qualifications
Completion of secondary school or equivalent (GED) and a recognized certificate in office or business administration.
Minimum three (3) years of progressive administrative and/or clerical experience.
At least one (1) year of experience related to Indigenous community services, youth programs, cultural support, or Indigenous social work.
Knowledge and lived experience with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture, ceremony, protocols, and governance.
Experience supporting or working with Elders or Knowledge Keepers considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and support culturally appropriate events and meetings.
Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Must have the means to travel within and around Regina and be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Ability to lift and set up cultural items (e.g., teepee poles, sweat lodge materials) and work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Working/Other Conditions
Must have the means to travel in and around Regina and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Primarily works in indoor office environment.
Occasionally works in the outdoor environment.
Occasionally works remotely.
Additional Requirements: Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy. Proof of education is required. Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies, skills, and knowledge.
