Position: School Based Math Facilitator - Term

Location: St. Francis de Sales - Smiths Falls and other elementary schools

Salary: As per Collective Agreement

FTE: 1.00

Effective: September 2, 2025 – June 26, 2026

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Board Math Lead and the Principal of Curriculum and Student Success, the school-based Math Facilitator will work towards the goals of the CDSBEO Math Achievement Action Plan and the Student Achievement and Action Plan. The Math Facilitator will assist student learning in priority schools for Grades 3 and 6 classrooms. The Math Facilitator will work directly with students requiring additional support, provide in-class facilitation to enhance math knowledge and teaching methods, ensure consistent implementation of effective instructional practices and early intervention strategies, and perform other duties as assigned.

The Math Facilitator will be assigned to a family of schools that have been as a priority, and work in these schools to support the students and assist the teachers in monitoring progress towards improvement targets.

Qualifications and Assets:

  • Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate;
  • Primary/Junior Divisional qualifications.
  • Primary/Junior Math qualifications;
  • Special education qualifications and/or experience supporting students receiving special education programs and/or services;
  • Religious Education Part 1 would be considered an asset;
  • Deep knowledge of the Ontario math curriculum (2020 and 2021);
  • Extensive knowledge about instruction and pedagogy in numeracy, including high impact instructional practices and intervention strategies in mathematics;
  • Extensive knowledge of assessment, evaluation and reporting practices in alignment with Growing Success, the Institute for Catholic Education and the Ontario Ministry of Education and Board directives;
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and experience in working with Board and school teams, and expertise in the planning and delivery of job-embedded teacher professional development;
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel to rural schools across the CDSBEO are required.

  • Strong planning, organization, and implementation skills with keen attention to detail;
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in facilitating professional learning and presenting to educators and school teams; and
  • Thorough understanding of assistive technology platforms and CDSBEO digital licenses, and their use in supporting student achievement.
