The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organized and community-driven Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of the Community Guide (Community Broker) model in New Westminster. This role is part of a multi-year pilot project funded through the Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) stream of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), aimed at improving access to settlement services for newcomers through neighbourhood-based outreach and support.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate recruitment, training, and onboarding of Community Guides (Community Brokers) in collaboration with the SDI Pilot Project team.
- Liaise with Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) table, municipal departments, schools, health authorities, and other stakeholders to support project alignment and community engagement.
- Support the development and implementation of Community Action Plans and culturally responsive outreach strategies.
- Facilitate regular meetings with Community Guides and project partners to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely submission of reports, data, and deliverables as outlined in the agreement.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to evaluation activities, including data collection and performance measurement.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree from a recognized educational institution in a relevant discipline (Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education) - or equivalent proven experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of newcomer needs, local service systems, and community engagement in New Westminster.
- Experience working with diverse populations using trauma-informed, culturally safe, and inclusive practices.
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including managing timelines, deliverables, and reporting for funded community-based initiatives.
- Familiarity with Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approaches and strengths-based engagement strategies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and digital tools for project management and reporting.
- Training in trauma-informed practice, GBA+ (Gender-Based Analysis Plus), or intercultural communication is highly valued.
- Lived experience as a newcomer is a strong asset.
- Fluent in English, French and additional languages are an asset.

- Valid First Aid Certificate (Basic Emergency First Aid with CPR-A or equivalent)
