THE ROLE
Are you a seasoned research professional with a passion for leadership and innovation? Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services is seeking a seeking a dynamic and visionary National Manager, Human Performance Research and Development to lead cutting-edge initiatives that shape the future of physical performance standards and programs across the Canadian Forces.
As the National Manager, you will be at the forefront of designing and directing Human Performance research, developing evidence-based physical training programs, and evaluating their impact on military personnel. This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise will directly influence the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Canadian Forces.
What You’ll Do
- Lead National Research Initiatives: Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of human performance research projects that support evolving operational needs.
- Drive Innovation: Develop and present comprehensive research proposals tailored to client groups, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and emerging challenges.
- Shape Policy and Standards: Guide the development of physical fitness standards and training protocols through rigorous data analysis and evidence-based recommendations.
- Mentor and Inspire: Provide expert guidance and leadership to a multidisciplinary team of researchers and managers.
- Represent Canada on the Global Stage: Share insights and findings with national and international stakeholders, including Canadian Forces, Department of National Defernce, external agencies, academia, and allied military forces.

- Proven experience in leading research teams or managing complex research programs.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
Master’s degree Exercise Sciences or a related field AND several years of experience in conducting and managing human performance and exercise physiology research for law enforcement, military or in a related field

In planning and managing research and development of physical fitness standards
In planning and managing the development of programs and policies in support of physical fitness maintenance and selection standards
In managing and interpreting out-sourced research projects
In developing research hypotheses, designs, and methodologies
In statistical analysis
In conducting advanced literature searches
In negotiating resources
In developing specialized physical fitness training programs
In managing and conducting laboratory fitness appraisals
In developing, producing, and publishing marketing and promotional materials for general and specific fitness standards and programs
In presenting reports and findings at professional conferences
In business and strategic planning
In budget administration
In personnel administration
In using statistical software programs

OTHER INFORMATION
This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
The successful candidate may be eligible for relocation benefits.
