We are looking for Two responsible, patient, reliable persons with strong organizational, communication and time management skills. The Medical Transportation Program is a fast-past where program demands are daily. The ideal candidate will be responsible for day-to-day travel for medical appointments for band members on and off reserve. About the facility: LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the well-being of all members. We provide accessible, high quality health services and programs. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we address both acute needs and determinants of health. The Medical Transportation Program is located at the Grandmother’s Bay Clinic in the community of Grandmother’s Bay.
About the position: The Medical Transportation Driver will advise LLRIB community members on the procedures and policies of Medical Transportation. They will ensure all patient information provided is accurate and approved for travel. They will also gather forms such as certificates, medical attendance and transportation warrants and will forward to Medical Transportation.
Duties:
  • Transport clients to and from medical appointments (In & Out of Town Trips)
  • Ensure documentation of each client is obtained and completed;
  • Daily maintenance of Medical Fleet Vehicles;
  • Complete daily log sheets on all trips;
  • Ensure all clients, destinations and times are confirmed with supervisor prior to any & all trips;
  • Advising band members of their responsibilities to have their certificate of medical attendance signed and returned;
  • Report all vehicle maintenance to Supervisor;
  • Assisting clients in and out of the medical vans when required;
  • Preforms On Call Duties when required;
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 10; Experience travelling in unforeseen weather conditions such as storms, blizzards, rain, etc.; Ability to travel for long hours to different cities and communities for medical appointments and return clients home; Ability to work effectively as a team member; First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset and/or willing to obtain; Ability to speak/understand Woodland Cree is a definite asset; Strong verbal and written communication skills is an asset; Ability to work independently with limited supervision; MUST POSSESS a Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
