The incumbent is a non-partisan employee of the Legislative Assembly, not a government employee.

Reporting to the Digital Media Manager, the incumbent works in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ensuring the production of quality digital video broadcasting of the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, both in the House and in Standing Committees. The House generally sits for about six months each year, mostly in the fall and spring.

  • You must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including working outside of standard office hours.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Relevant technical video production experience, either through education or work.
  • Proficient in broadcast systems, including cameras, microphones, video switchers, audio mixers, routers, servers, and signal transmission equipment.
  • Experience operating video switchers, PTZ cameras and other broadcasting hardware and software.
  • The ability to work well under pressure for extended periods during live broadcasts.
  • The ability to work on a team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with shot composition and image quality control.
  • The ability to adapt to change, and to identify and resolve problems to complex situations.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency using PC web interfaces with broadcast equipment.
  • Familiar with live streaming workflows.

Desired:
  • Experience with video conferencing software.
  • Basic French comprehension skills.
  • Basic understanding of the composition and function of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba.

Duties:

  • Operate modern digital video production equipment and processes.
  • Operate computers, video cameras, streaming equipment and various kinds of media production gear for live streaming events.
  • Operate video conferencing software and monitor remote participation of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) during hybrid virtual sittings of the House and Committees.

As a casual employee, the incumbent is called upon to work shifts on an as needed basis while the House is in Session. During Session, casual employment involves work periods typically occurring in the fall and spring each year. Although there is no guarantee of hours, when called in to work, the incumbent will work shifts ranging from 5 to 8 hours, dependent upon the operational demands of the Branch.
