Responsibilities:
- Teach high school-level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in alignment with the British Columbia (BC) curriculum.
- Create engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to diverse student learning needs and abilities.
- Assess and monitor student progress through assignments, quizzes, and exams, providing timely and constructive feedback to facilitate improvement.
- Incorporate hands-on learning experiences, real-world applications, and interactive teaching methods to engage students and deepen their understanding of STEM subjects.
- Communicate regularly with education consultants regarding student progress, areas for improvement, and the next steps in their academic development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or other STEM subjects.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based on the BC high school curriculum.
- Familiarity with IB or AP curricula is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both oral and written) to effectively engage with students and provide feedback.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported.
- Proficient in using educational technology and online platforms to enhance learning, especially in hybrid or online teaching situations.
- Experience with developing customized lesson plans and adjusting teaching methods based on individual student needs.
BLUBC Specific Requirements:
- Ability to design customized course outlines for students that meet their specific academic goals.
- Provide and evaluate relevant homework after each class and return assessments in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular assessments and offer detailed feedback on student progress.
- Work closely with BLUBC education consultants to ensure alignment between teaching strategies and student objectives.
- Adhere to all BLUBC policies, procedures, and guidelines for teaching and student care.
- Be available for in-person teaching sessions as required, while also being open to online sessions when necessary.
