Position Profile
We are currently recruiting for a Materials & Logistics Manager to join our team in Sidney, BC.
The Material & Logistics Manager is accountable for the safety and Management of the Material & Logistics Personnel, including the logistics movements in & out and within the facilities. Ensuring the right parts are at the right time to the customer. Leading and coaching employees to develop robust processes to increase the efficiency of all Material & Logistics activities. The role is a key part of the Supply Chain leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote high safety values to the Stores team.
- Lead all Material & Logistics personnel to ensure the employees are trained to comply with company policies and procedures. Management activities will include duties such as; Directing and supervising all employees in the material & logistics team, interviewing, hiring, training, payroll, evaluations/promoting performance improvement through employee development plans, vacation scheduling, etc.
- Report operation KPIs and weekly meetings focused on the Material & Logistic organization performance.
- Lead the team to effective material flow activities including receiving, stocking, picking, issuing, dispatching, and shipping. To include a customer driven focus and ease of execution of transacting materials.
- Accountable for ensuring all incoming and outgoing product that is received or shipped in accordance with the policies and procedures defined in the quality manual.
- Manage cycle counting process to ensure inventory accuracy, with root cause analysis and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and mentor pro-active thinking and root cause analysis on material issues. Includes management of crate and freight expenses to budget.
- Oversee all phases of inventory movements, receiving and transferring parts from one location to another, and issuing parts to the production floor.
- Participate in activities to improve quality, lead times, lot sizes inventory levels.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in procurement, order fulfillment, warehouse management and or logistics.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, and/or have extensive experience in supply chain.
- University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Technical discipline preferred.
- An understanding of contemporary lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- APICS (CPIM), APICS (CSCP), APICS (CLTD), and/or other supply chain certifications.
- Experience in Lean/ISO9000 environment
- Experience leading people with demonstrated team-building skills.
- Experience with operations management
- Logistics experience and Purchasing experience would be an asset.
- Proficiency with the Visual, IFS, SAP, JDE, or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems would be considered an asset.
- Experience in the aerospace industry and/or manufacturing environment (Asset).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, demanding and deadline-driven environment.
- Strong customer focus, business acumen and a result-oriented attitude.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; great attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable dealing with all levels of an organization.
- Strong financial acumen with excellent proficiency in MS Excel to analyze data
- Ability to work in a highly technical environment.
- The physical requirements for the Materials Manager position includes visual, hearing, and, speaking abilities; and the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
