This is a part-time position working evenings and some weekends for a total of 1-3 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Master Instructor – Sports, you will be leading comprehensive programs for volleyball, football, soccer, tennis, hockey, floor hockey, badminton or basketball to meet the needs of all registered adult, youth and/or child participants. You must be a skilled player capable of coaching and instructing a wide range skill sets related to your scheduled sport. You will also be expected to act as a knowledgeable resource to participants and their families and ensure that instruction is conducted in a safe environment that encourages participation and personal development.
- Provide sport instruction to program registrants
- Arrive at your program site in time to properly prepare, set up and start the program according to schedule
- Develop a detailed program plans for a variety of ages and skill levels
- Follow the class format and content as required
- Ensure on-site safety of participants
- Deliver exceptional customer service (including welcoming, conduct and communication) to all participants
- Provide detailed feedback and progress and personal development plans to registrants and parents of registrants
- Conduct Program Administration (attendance tracking, registration update, incident reports as required)
- Work cooperatively and supervise instructor assistants and youth volunteers
- Liaise with Facility Manager, Program Supervisor, Facility Operations and Customer Service staff
- Notify the Recreation Coordinator/Fitness of any problems and/or recommendations regarding participants, courts or facilities, which may affect the program
- Attend staff meetings as requested
- Meet with prospective customers to provide program information and to encourage participation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR B or Standard First Aid with AED/CPR C
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification is a requirement
- Proven experience with children, youth and adults
- Coaching Certification and/or rep playing experience is considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability in volleyball, football, soccer, tennis, hockey, floor hockey, badminton, basketball or skateboarding required
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Access to reliable transportation
- Successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment
- Must possess valid Standard First Aid with CPR C (Emergency First Aid) certification
