The Assessment and Abandoned Mines (AAM) branch leads, directs and oversees the management and remediation of abandoned mines in the Yukon. Effectively delivering this service to the people of the Yukon requires commitment to the highest levels of professionalism. Our work is focused on environmental protection, health and safety, effective project delivery and sound financial planning.

As the Manager you will lead a team directing the clean-up of high profile, abandoned mine sites, overseeing all aspects of the work including technical designs, First Nation relationships, construction and ongoing site operations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, public/business administration, resource management or a related field;
  • Experience building and managing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as, Government of Canada, First Nation Governments, communities, regulators, non-governmental organizations and other government departments;
  • Experience leading teams with diverse skills and in coaching, mentoring and team-building;
  • Experience negotiating with other governments and contractors, and representing the organization’s interests at various forums, such as multi-stakeholder meetings, technical working groups and other similar conferences and conventions;
  • Experience managing complex and multi-level mine remediation, industrial or related projects

Candidates who have post-secondary education combined with significant senior management experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
