Position Description
The Toronto Region Maternal Child Health Network (TMCHN), hosted at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), is one of six regional networks in Ontario established to improve health outcomes and health equity for the perinatal, newborn, and paediatric populations.
The Manager of the TMCHN leads various operational and strategic initiatives in support of the Network's overall strategic directions and in alignment with `core elements established for all Ontario Regional Maternal and Child Health Networks.
This dynamic role provides an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with a wide variety of perinatal/obstetrical and paediatric health system leaders or organizations to have a meaningful impact on maternal and child health across the Toronto Region and beyond. The Manager will also work closely with internal SickKids collaborators, at all leadership levels.
Here's What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director Clinical & Health System Strategy at SickKids, the Manager will manage all aspects of the Network, including strategic planning, day to day operations and projects/initiatives.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day network operations/structures as well as lead and manage multiple complex projects/initiatives that deliver impactful outcomes in alignment with TMCHN priorities.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of the highly complex maternal (obstetrical, perinatal), neonatal, paediatric health system landscape in the Toronto region/GTA/Ontario and apply this knowledge in strategic and operational contexts.
- Oversee recruitment, performance management and professional development of direct reports, ensuring skillsets and capacity to meet Network needs and support strategic priorities.
- Monitor Network performance and partner with Director, Clinical & Health System Strategy to support the creation of the network's annual budget to align resources with network priorities and tracking of network expenses against budget.
Relationship Management & Partnerships
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships, at all leadership levels, with Ontario Health, Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (Regional Network Operating Forum), other Maternal/Child Regional Networks, BORN, and organizations in the Toronto region (e.g. hospitals, primary care, midwifery, public health, community health centres). Lead, through influence, members of Network working groups and committees.
- Attend and facilitate meetings with key network collaborators, including meetings to acquire and disseminate knowledge, drive decision making, and to profile network initiatives (see TMCHN committee structure, Regional Network Operating Forum, etc.)
- Create and deliver presentations to stakeholders across the Network.
Strategic Initiatives
- Apply effective facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills to lead and manage work with network collaborators to co-develop and implement network strategy and annual workplan.
- Write business cases/proposals, in alignment with network priorities, to support implementation and sustainability of network initiatives.
- Lead and manage initiatives/projects, in partnership with network collaborators, as part of the Network's annual workplan.
- Analyze and synthesize complex information (qualitative and quantitative) to inform and drive development and implementation of strategy and deliverables.
- Develop change management and implementation strategies to ensure change is imbedded and sustained.
Here's What You'll Need
- Masters in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Administration, Pubic Health or other relevant disciple or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least 5 years managing increasingly complex programs/projects in the healthcare sector and two years leading teams/people management.

Clinical designation is an asset (e.g. RN) to support an ability to understand and engage in clinical discussions with network collaborators.

Related work experience in leading programs/projects across multiple sectors and/or organizations.

Experience working with diverse stakeholders, ranging from frontline staff, clinicians, through to senior leadership/executives.

An ability to learn about and engage in clinical discussions.

Exemplary communication, organization, facilitation, collaboration, and relationship management skills.

Excellent data analytic and data management skills: writing reports, briefing notes, status reports; and experience in process mapping.

Demonstrated capacity to prepare data driven reports and presentations.

Capacity to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple shifting priorities
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or in progress is an asset or demonstrated skill with respect to project management.
