The Opportunity
The Manager is responsible for the effective management and leadership of the administration, client interaction and transaction processing responsibilities of the Registered Disability Saving Plan within Client Services. The deliverables will include setting us processes and procedures in line with ESDC & CRA guidelines, delivering of interaction and processing quality and through put targets, development and maintenance of appropriate controls, keeping abreast of regulatory changes, staff planning and utilization and process reviews and improvements.
What You Will Do
Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team that aligns with Fidelity’s values and that collaborates well in cross-functional environments.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions with employees, providing direction and feedback, actively manage performance, and proactively address performance concerns
- Engage employees in development conversations and provide support. towards to their development goals, with a focus on continuous learning and upskilling
- Conduct annual goal setting by establishing clear and measurable goals, ensuring alignment and support of department strategy
- Successfully execute end to end yearend performance review cycle
- Work with HR Business Partners to develop talent management strategies to attract and retain talent
- Drive employee engagement by supporting and promoting people programs and enabling Fidelity’s culture
Operational management: Manage the day-to-day activities of the department, ensuring the team is delivering against the interaction and processing KPI targets
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the RDSP department. Work with senior divisional management to make recommendations and implement changes which will enhance productivity, reduce risk and generally increase employee performance
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department to ensure proper administration and regulatory compliance with completion of incoming transactions
- Liaise with ESDC to ensure proper administration and escalation of operational enquiries
- Develop policies and procedures in line with the established guidelines of ESDC and CRA
- Add value to the client experience and support Voice of the Customer program by understanding what's important and recognizing what needs to be done
Influence strategic direction: Leads the development and execution of departmental goals, in addition to contributing to the development of the Client Services Business Plan
- Partners with other departments across Client Services and Customer Relations, balancing departmental objectives with overall corporate objectives
- Works with senior divisional management to make recommendations and implement changes which will enhance productivity, reduce risk and generally increase employee performance
- Developing strategic presentations to obtain agreement and alignment from the executive team and key stakeholders
- Contribute to the creation of the annual business planning process, by providing strategic insights, anticipating environmental changes for the purposes of future proofing the team
Relationship Management: Build solid relationships across Fidelity and within the mutual fund industry
- Develop relationships to ensure clear communication lines are built with key stakeholders across Fidelity (e.g. Sales, Compliance, Legal, Product)
- Look for opportunities to represent Fidelity on industry committees (e.g. IFIC, FundSERV), to ensure our position is considered, and we can provide input on industry development
What You Will Bring
- Knowledge and understanding of Registered Disability Savings Plans and relevant business policies and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of ESDC & CRA regulations, requirements, and guidelines, including legislative changes as published by ESDC and CRA
- Exceptional communicator who can leverage data to identify themes, build a narrative and secure buy-in from senior management
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors to ensure that all compliance and regulatory requirements are maintained
- Ability to provide strategic direction and coaching across multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, changing focus and priorities as needed
- Proven ability to build and cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders up, down, and across the organization
- Strong project management skills with an emphasis on bringing together multiple stakeholders and driving towards a common goal under specified timelines
- Proven leadership experience with a focus on developing and leveraging the capabilities of a high-performing team
Experience, Education
- University degree (Bachelor Degree) or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of Knowledge and understanding of Registered Disability Savings Plans and relevant business policies and procedures with 3+ years of leadership experience
- Excellent knowledge of ESDC & CRA regulations, requirements, and guidelines, including legislative changes as published by ESDC and CRA
- Industry knowledge of CIRO (formerly MFDA and IIROC), ESDC, CRA and RQ rules and regulations
- Completion of the CSC or IFIC is an asset
- Bilingual English/French, both oral and written (asset)
- Experience working within the asset management industry or similar financial services organization
