Summary
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Services, the Manager of Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Training oversees the development, and implementation of prevention programs aimed at supporting the eradication of GBV. This position will assume responsibility for the successful delivery of prevention programs delivered across the province and ensure program outcomes and targets are achieved. The Manager will oversee and assume all supervisory related functions of program staff, including the project staff, volunteers, project partners, and sub-licensees. This position requires local and provincial travel, with the potential of national travel.
This position performs their duties in accordance with the vision, values, and strategic goals of the organization. All IHOH staff are required to work within, and comply with, any and all applicable legislation. This role is a vital to IHOH’s vision of being an innovative leader by developing prevention programs to help create violence free lives for the women, children, and communities IHOH serves.
Job Duties
The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop training pathways and negotiate contracts with workplaces and sub-licensees.
- Overall direction, management, and support of GBV prevention service delivery.
- Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to measure the effectiveness of the program.
- Develop, implement and facilitate training sessions and support the delivery of prevention training across the province and across multiple platforms, including social media.
- Ability to travel provincially to support training needs.
Key Activities:
- Meet the goals of IHOH’s strategic plan through goal setting and team management.
- Identify funding opportunities and complete grant applications, funding performance reports, and funding program evaluations.
- Develop policies and procedures to guide the safe delivery of GBV prevention programs.
- Coordinate and negotiate training contracts with workplaces and sub-licensees.
- Set overall performance evaluation management systems to ensure program sub-

licensees, volunteers, and corporate partners are delivering the programs in a manner consistent with the terms of their agreements. • Provide remedial support and recommendations to revoke or alter sub-licensee agreements and program delivery as required.
- Assist HR in the recruitment efforts for the GBV Prevention team as required.
- Adjust training delivery/content by evaluating program design and reviewing outcomes.
- Make recommendations to ensure the program service and funding outcomes are met.
- Monitor program expenditures as outlined by the approved budget.
- Identify, recommend, deliver, and direct overall training needs for all IHOH staff to ensure GBV prevention strategies are embedded in practice.
- Supervise and review staff performance and work with the HR Manager and the Director of Programs & Services regarding disciplinary actions and/or performance issues.
- Delegate tasks to program staff and provide feedback regularly on performance.
- Lead, liaise, and coordinate key shareholder tables.
- Participate in fundraising activities and relevant donor recruitment and retention.
- Remain mobile and flexible to support the needs of the team.
- Attend relevant community meetings and committees, maintaining professionalism and reflecting the values of IHOH.
- Acts as an on-call team member on a rotating basis that oversees all agency programs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
As a member of the IHOH Management team, this role will also assist with the following:
- Assist the Resource Development team in soliciting for donations and sponsorships.
- Assist the Resource Development team at fundraising/sponsorship events by helping to set up/tear down the event, sell raffle tickets, and provide support as needed.
- Provide reports on your department/responsibilities to the Management team, Board, and stakeholders of IHOH.

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in public relations, social services, adult or social justice education, or related discipline, from a recognized University/College.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience and a proven record of success in a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience working within an intersectional feminist framework.
- Highly skilled in business planning, design and project execution.
- Experience with community stakeholder engagement and presentation/group facilitation.
- Fully literate in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

- Skilled in stats collection and analysis to meet performance targets.
- Experience working in a politically sensitive environment.
- Keen interest in working with and for diverse populations, providing support through an intersectional feminist framework.

- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs for various tasks.
- Valid driver's license and access to an insured (minimum $2,000,000 liability), roadworthy vehicle or alternate ability to meet the extensive travel requirements of this position.
- Valid certification in First Aid/CPR +AED and ASIST. Completion of WHMIS, Bill 168, AODA, Occupational Health and Safety training.
- Original copy of Police Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector clearance and ability to meet the requirements of the vulnerable sector standards for employment by IHOH.
- Able to meet the IHOH COVID-19 vaccination policy requirements.
- Fluency in French or a second language is an asset, but not required.
Work Conditions:
IHOH is a busy environment, whether in the emergency shelter, drop-in centers, or when working on community outreach/engagement, attending meetings, or events. The schedule is predictable but can change to accommodate events or during crisis management work.
Employees work with diverse groups of women and children in traumatic, emotional states and must be willing to assist them with personal care items, system navigation, conflict management, crisis counselling and advocating for them with community members, housing providers, and justice services.
Workplace and Work Environment Hazards: This is a highly mobile position and will require travel within Hamilton, as well as provincially. This position also requires community engagement meetings, public education, and community development.
This position works from an administrative office located within the Victoria and Friends Women’s Shelter, which is an emergency, VAW shelter where abused women, with or without children, reside. IHOH also has outreach locations where women seeking assistance will drop in. All employees working at any IHOH location are responsible for creating a friendly, inclusive (non- discriminatory), compassionate, and cohesive environment that will implement strategies and plan to ensure a healthy, safe and supportive environment is kept at all times.
While the schedule is predictable, it does involve some evenings and weekend work to attend events or Board meetings. Employees will work in an environment with diverse groups of women and children who may present in crisis. Most of the work will be done in an administrative office and will require long periods of sitting. Additionally, this position will require mobility throughout the community to attend events, receive donations, transport donations, and more. The ability to lift and maintain community mobility is essential.
The Victoria and Friends Women’s Shelter is a pet-friendly shelter to the women and children we serve. IHOH’s policies and procedures regarding pets in residence are in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, residents, and guests. While the responsibility to care for pets in shelter rests solely on the pet owner, employees must be aware that they will be working in close proximity to various pets during their shifts.
The work environment is funded through grants and government contracts thus employees will be required to keep daily records, notes and at times produce reports and documentation.
