As a Maintenance and Reliability Co-op Student with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced team supporting operations at the Burnaby and Westridge Terminals. This position is based at our Burnaby Terminal. Term extension to 12 months is available.


The Co-Op student will receive a structured orientation, including safety training and guided site tours, to build familiarity with equipment, procedures, and the organization's maintenance and reliability practices.


The position will begin in January 2026 with a term length of 8 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance planning by helping review and organize work orders to improve scheduling and reduce downtime across terminal operations.
  • Assist with task coordination by grouping similar maintenance activities to make fieldwork more efficient and reduce travel time for technicians.
  • Help create and update procedures and work packages for completing maintenance tasks, making it easier for teams to track and report work consistently.
  • Contribute to schedule development by identifying which tasks need special planning (like equipment shutdowns) and helping align them with operational timelines.
  • Support development of handover protocols between shift trade personnel to improve team communication
  • Support equipment care programs by tracking lubrication schedules, calibration needs, and helping organize sampling and testing routines.
  • Assist with performance tracking by collecting and analyzing data on equipment usage and maintenance trends and helping generate reports for review.
  • Help manage spare parts inventory by reviewing stock levels and identifying frequently used items to ensure technicians have what they need when they need it.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Engineering program (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Petroleum preferred), ideally in your 2nd or 3rd year of studies
  • Previous experience in an industrial or field setting is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High regard for safety and operational integrity

Other Requirements and Information

  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Travel required between Burnaby and Westridge Terminals; occasional offsite training or meetings

The expected pay range for this position is $22.23 to $27.99 CAD per hour.
