This competition will be used to source candidates for similar Mail Operator positions at the LC1 classification. An eligibility list may be created to fill similar regular or term positions, and if established may remain in effect up to 12 months.
Candidates who do not meet all essential criteria may be considered on an underfill basis at a commensurate rate of pay.

Material Distribution Agency (MDA) is the mail and materials management services agency for the Government of Manitoba and government-funded organizations. Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must be able to lift up to 66 lbs.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of this position including lifting, reaching, squatting and standing for prolonged periods of time on a cement floor.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain steel toe footwear.
Qualifications:
Essential
- Experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Experience working on mechanical and computerized pieces of equipment or operational knowledge.
- Experience in computer data entry and inventory procedures ensuring quality control work for accuracy and completeness.
- Experience with daily clerical operational procedures regarding routine functions.
- Efficient written communication skills in order to complete paperwork clearly and accurately.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and make recommendations by helping to implement potential improvements in the area (safety, productivity, quality etc.).
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and follow established guidelines and policies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and different stakeholders.
- Experience working with Canada Post standards and or Great Plains
Duties:
The Material Distribution Agency (MDA) is looking to fill positions at the LC2 and LC1 level. Under the direction of the Manager of Mail Services, these positions are responsible for ensuring the day-to-day client demands in the Finishing & IDM areas are met. The incumbent will perform work on a variety of mechanical and computerized pieces of equipment in a timely, and efficient manner. The position is responsible for activities such as to set up, operate, maintain inserting equipment, and maintain high speed folders, manually insertion, generate and/ or complete job sheets, and prepare a variety of statements of mailing, prepare addressed and unaddressed mailings for dispatch to Canada Post, as well as to empty and sort incoming mail which includes, interdepartmental mail and Canada Post, check envelopes that may look suspicious in nature and contact security if found, sort and bundle Interdepartmental Daily Mail (IDM), and Federal mail into designated lockboxes within the mail area, deliver and collect mail throughout the building to designated offices.
Other duties require Empty incoming Purolator bags and mail route bags and separate interdepartmental from the federal mail to be metered. Sort incoming Interdepartmental mail into addressed mail slots for both city and rural locations. Prepare mail bags for route delivery within the city, prepare a manifest of inbound and outbound Interdepartmental Signature Service for the corresponding routes.
