The Role:
Defined Designs is seeking a machinist, with a highly trained eye for detail, quality, and the creative ability to help build things that often have never been done before. In this position, you’ll be exposed to the some of the most exciting brands and companies from around the globe, as well as have opportunity to lead a team to explore innovative and creative ways to bring builds to life. You will use your advanced methods for fabrication and be able to help support our company’s vision of delivering assets of the highest quality to our customers and clients.

Qualifications / Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
2. 3-5 years of experience in production and custom fabrication environment
3. 1-2 years of experience as a manufacturing or production lead or supervisor
4. Reliable Transportation and clean driving record
5. Ability to tow trailers is an asset
6. Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, procedures and processes
7. Ability to work proficiently independently, and in a team environment
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and problem solve
9. Ability to adjust to and accept change in direction and priorities and effectively respond to the situation
10. Ability to operate equipment and power tools, including arc welding and gas welding equipment, grinders, sanders, lathes, and saws.
11. Detail oriented and attention to detail skills with the ability to work with precision
12. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, work specifications, and assembly instructions
13. Strong communication, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking skills, and the ability to think outside of the box
14. Ability to design and make templates, jigs, and fixtures for production of furniture and other products
15. Mechanical knowledge and aptitude
16. Understand basic math and fractions to read tape measure, rules, etc. to 1/32’s.
17. Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, and lift at least 50 pounds or more
18. Excellent colour vision and hand dexterity
19. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
Responsibilities:
1. Plan, execute, facilitate, and finalize fabrication, Brand Activation, Tradeshow, and specialized manufacturing and assembly projects according to a custom scope of works and associated deadlines.
2. Ensure that the daily production schedule is adhered to, and all daily objectives are met.
3. Consulting and reading schematics, and drawings to create products to required specifications.
4. Work cohesively and assist our Jr. Department members.
5. Able to foresee and flag concerns through the build of a project.
6. Work with all different types of materials (wood, metal, plastic etc.)
7. Assist in project planning and coordination to ensure project objectives are met (on time, fully functional, of high quality)
8. Communicate with management and fellow staff regarding any project concerns, project status, and possible solutions.
9. Review provided renderings or drawings and suggest/recommend alternative build techniques that could improve efficiency and quality of product.
10. Work independently and/or with a team.
11. Inspect finished products for quality and ensure they meet specifications
12. Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area
13. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and assembly instructions
14. Use hand tools and power tools to fabricate and assemble parts
15. Collaborate with team members to meet production goals
