Purpose of the Role
The Loader Operator is responsible for safely operating loaders and related equipment to ensure timely delivery of materials to the production floor and the efficient movement of finished goods to designated storage or staging area
Location: Ponoka, AB
Shift Hours: Weekend shift Friday to Sunday 6:30am to 6:30pm
Key Accountabilities:
- Operate loading equipment in a safe manner at all times.
- Complete a daily safety assessment form, inspecting the work environment and equipment to identify and address any hazards prior to operation.
- Ensure all equipment is inspected prior to operation and report and defects to manager and maintenance right away.
- Stage finished goods accurately by matching part ID numbers and ensuring materials are correctly positioned for loading or transport.
- Select finished goods from inventory based on part numbers, ensuring accuracy in quantity and part identification in alignment with packing slip instructions.
- Record pile and/or cap identification numbers accurately for traceability.
- Conduct daily inventory cycle counts as assigned.
- Maintain an organized and clean storage yard by placing materials in designated locations.
- Perform general housekeeping duties and assist with yard upkeep, including snow clearing, to ensure a safe and organized worksite.
- Maintain, clean, and lubricate equipment and refill fuel tanks as needed, and secure special attachments as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to support smooth operations and material flow
Qualifications & Experiance
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1–2 years of experience operating loaders or similar heavy equipment in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment
- Experience working with inventory systems
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing pre-operational inspections and minor servicing
Work Environment:
- Outdoor based with time spent in manufacturing shop
- Exposure to loud noises
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
- Physical elements include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally
- Fast paced with tight deadlines
- Shift work
- Overtime is required to meet operational needs.
- Work schedule may vary
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
