Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. This role is essential in ensuring that our restaurant maintains high standards of food quality and safety while delivering exceptional meals to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare breakfast items including eggs (all styles), bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, French toast, hash browns, home fries, omelets, etc.
- Assemble and cook lunch items such as sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and daily specials.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency and reduce waste.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service begins.
- Operate all kitchen equipment safely, including grill, flat-top, deep fryer, oven, and slicer.
Line Management & Service Execution
- Cook and plate orders quickly and accurately according to customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized station throughout the shift.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timing and accuracy of orders.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tickets during peak hours.
Opening & Closing Duties
- Participate in morning prep before service begins (chopping vegetables, prepping sauces, batters, etc.).
- Ensure all food is stored properly and labeled with date/time.
- At shift end, clean the station, restock as needed, and assist in kitchen cleanup.
- Properly shut down equipment and ensure kitchen is ready for the next day.
Health & Safety
- Comply with food safety and sanitation standards at all times (HACCP knowledge is a plus).
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure food is cooked and stored at proper temperatures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, spoiled products, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain a clean uniform and practice proper hand hygiene.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to improve efficiency and kitchen flow.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with fellow team members and front-of-house staff.
- Accept feedback constructively and adapt to changes in the menu or service procedures.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
