The Line Cook, Courtenay shall work with the Kitchen Manger, the Executive Director, and other staff to execute the food services of the Students’ Union, NISU Eats at 2300 Ryan Rd, Courtenay.
Hours of work per week: 35 - 40
Rate of Compensation: $20.22 per hour, benefits for self & family after probation, pension plan, wellness fund, personal development fund, wellness hours. All NISU staff are organised with Local 2020 Construction, Maintenance and Allied Workers Canada and are supported by the Collective Agreement.
Experience:
The Line Cook, Courtenay shall be knowledgeable of and have experience in:
- Quick Service Restaurants, including preparation, service, and inventory.
- Preference given for grill cook and catering experience.
- Ability to work as part of a small team, as well as independently.
- Commitment to a high standard of member service.
Responsibilities:
The Line Cook, Courtenay shall:
- Support the kitchen operations at the Ryan Rd campus of North Island College.
- Prepare, cook, and serve food.
- Be available to open and close the kitchen, as scheduled.
- Assist in food safety.
- Assist in sanitation, including grill & deep fryer cleaning.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Uphold NISU Eats quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with the rest of the kitchen team for seamless meal execution.
Qualifications:
- A certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant discipline and/or a minimum of one year previous work experience in the food service industry.
- Food Safe Level One or equivalent or ability to receive such training.
- Ability to travel to and from Ryan Rd campus, reliably.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
