Working along with other Health Care Professionals, the Laboratory Assistant I will provide Laboratory support to the Sturgeon Community Hospital. The primary responsibilities include phlebotomy for adults, children and infants using both macro and micro techniques while providing patient centered care, performing urinalysis, specimen entry, specimen processing and transport, troubleshooting problem specimens, and reception duties. The consequential vacancy process may be used to fill any resulting vacancies.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Urinalysis course including theory and practical. Phlebotomy and urinalysis experience within the last 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience with data entry, specimen processing and troubleshooting is preferred. Recent experience using EPIC Beaker and Rover is preferred.
