POSITION: Junior Purchaser
REPORTS TO: Business Planning Manager

LOCATION: Charlottetown, PE
Island Abbey Nutritionals provides full contract manufacturing, bottling, and packaging services for white-label production from concept to launch.

The junior purchaser will provide timely and cost-effective procurement, including value added sourcing and ordering of ingredients, materials, equipment and services by applying and adhering to best supply chain practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review internal requests, prepare and release requests for quote (RFQ), and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
- Create purchase orders from approved suppliers in accordance with established process.
- Maintain purchase orders in the MRP system including updating promised delivery dates and any purchase order notes (i.e: delivery status, constraints, and risk).
- Develop supplier relationships to ensure all parts & materials meet the requirements of internal and external customers.
- Action discrepant, defective, or unacceptable products/services with Receiving Inspection, Receiving and Quality Assurance departments, end users, vendors and others to determine the source and root cause of the problem and action the necessary corrective / preventative actions as required.
- Action invoice discrepancies accurately and in a timely manner.
- Interface with key stakeholders in a pro-active manner to obtain and provide information, including procurement technical advice in support of overall operations.
- Recommend and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Work within and promote Lean practices to meet departmental goals.
- Carry out special assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, supply chain, or logistics management or 1-3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Proficient working with warehouse management software as well as MRP and ERP software systems and O365
- Embrace change and effective implementing within organization.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and flexible to adjust to evolving business needs.
