THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for an Investment Associate to join our award-winning firm in our Victoria office.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will work with an established Portfolio Management team who focus on integrating investment management and financial planning to help grow and protect their clients’ wealth. They work with families, corporations, and foundations to ensure that each client receives the highest level of service, and they offer customized portfolios under a responsible investment mandate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Marketing/Business Development
- Help build and execute business plans, client segmentation, and client service plans
- Support the team with marketing material, website updates and team newsletter distribution
- Maintain CRM databases (Salesforce, Outlook)
- Identify opportunities among the existing client base for asset consolidation and referrals
- Help manage a pipeline of prospects/leads; work with the advisors to close new opportunities
- Deepen existing relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) through ongoing engagement
- Analysis
- Work with the Portfolio Manager on market and investment research
- Update investment model spreadsheets
- Support the team with trading and portfolio rebalancing
- Update slide decks for client meetings/presentations
- Assist with quarterly portfolio reviews
- Financial Planning Support
- Support clients through the wealth management process by gathering relevant information, documents, and questionnaires, coordinate activities with appropriate financial planning contacts and ensure follow-up on tasks
- Liaise with clients’ accountants for year-end tax filing
- Maintain up to date records of clients’ tax and estate documents
- Administration
- Liaise with internal departments for timely client support
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
- Assist with new client onboarding and estate distributions
- Ensure client files and documentation are accurate and up to date
- Business Development – Identify, qualify, pursue, and secure leads on new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and expand client base in target markets or customer segments
- Customer Relationship Management – Build, manage, and nurture client relationships, leveraging CRM tools to track interactions, understand client needs, and deliver consistent service Team Building/Mentoring –Able and willing to mentor and guide administrative staff, provide feedback to the Portfolio Manager, seek opportunities for delegated tasks, and communicate effectively with all team members
- Financial Planning – Develop comprehensive financial strategies or recommend products that align resources or assets with clients' long-term goals, balancing income, investments, savings, and expenditures
- Investment & Portfolio Management – Develop, implement, and monitor investment strategies to grow assets, manage risk, and achieve financial goals, while providing informed guidance and support to clients or stakeholders
- Regulatory Knowledge – Understand and apply relevant laws, regulations, and standards to meet legal and ethical requirements and reduce risk for clients and the firm
- Risk Assessment – Identify, analyze, and evaluate risks to make decisions and take actions that manage their likelihood and impact on achieving our objectives for the benefit of our clients, firm, and communities
- Minimum 3 years of client-facing experience within the investment industry
- Registered with CIRO as a Registered Representative in good standing
- Pursuing or in possession of CFA, CIM, CFP, or QAFP
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly with Excel spreadsheets
- Knowledge of Broadridge’s Dataphile and/or Salesforce is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- A team player with a clear vision of what is required to be part of a high-performing team
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

This role has an expected salary and commission range of $85,000 - $95,000/year, plus the potential for bonuses.
