Information Technology Specialist Role (Canada Summer Jobs Position)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and escalate priority incidents or requests in a timely manner.
- Responsible for handling issues through to resolution as well as follow-up communication with the end user.
- Coordinate with external vendors for issues or requests logged.
- Support mobile devices/tablets, including set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Overall end-user hardware and or software installations, additions, changes, configuration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Provide end-user troubleshooting and support for software and hardware.
- System/Application account creation/deletion/change/general maintenance.
- Organize daily workload and efficiently manage requests and issues logged.
- Liaise with other IT members on technical issues, responsible for related follow-up, and provide timely updates on assigned tasks.
- Documenting standard operating procedures (SOP) and performing updates and system configuration changes.
- Installing, supporting, and managing desktops as well as analyzing logs and identifying root cause issues with systems.
- Support the rollout of new digital technologies.
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Enrolled in a College diploma or University degree in the field of Information Technology (Nice to have).
- Technical Knowledge of Windows 10, Apple macOS, iOS, and Android (Nice to have).
- Technical and Functional knowledge of CompTIA A+ (Nice to have).
- Knowledge of networking technologies and terminologies.
- Functional knowledge of Google Workspace and/or Office 365.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of printing devices (USB/Wi-Fi Printers, MFPs, Scanners).
- Knowledge in Inventory Management.
Guidelines for Employment Eligibility:
- This job is through the Canada Summer Job Grant program. To fulfill the requirements of the grant applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations (International students are not eligible).
- International Students are not eligible.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Brampton, ON L6X 2M1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
