Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for a Housekeeper to join its growing team at our JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or evening.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain assigned areas, including hotel rooms and bathrooms, following cleaning protocols
- Dust furniture, sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, and clean windows
- Change bed linens and towels, checking for any wear, tear, or stains, replacing with clean linens and towels
- Empty trash and dispose of waste properly
- Replenish essential supplies such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning products in guest rooms and on carts, maintaining the appropriate inventory levels and guest comfort
- Handle and use cleaning chemicals and refill cleaning supplies according to safety guidelines
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Supervisor
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues and be well groomed
- Laundry duties may be required
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Previous experience as a housekeeper or similar role is preferred
- Provide a clear Criminal Record Screening Certificate
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks
- Good physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and move/lift objects up to 30lbs, when necessary
- Ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and work well under pressure
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
