The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests, visitors, and team members. This role involves regular patrolling of hotel premises, monitoring surveillance systems, responding to incidents and emergencies, and assisting in upholding property rules and policies. The Security Officer acts as the first line of defense in preventing and managing security issues, contributing to a positive guest experience and safe workplace.

They should have extensive knowledge of security protocols and procedures, with the ability to perform hands-on tasks effectively. Key Accountabilities:
- Patrol hotel property regularly (interior and exterior) to ensure safety and security of guests and assets.
- Monitor security surveillance systems and report any unusual activity.
- Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or requests for assistance from guests or team members.
- Escort guests or team members when required for safety reasons.
- Ensure all access points, emergency exits, and restricted areas are secured and unobstructed.
- Check for unauthorized vehicles and enforce parking policies.
- Support safe guest departures after events, weddings, and functions.
- Assist in managing guest behavior, particularly in cases of intoxication or disorderly conduct.
- Report maintenance or safety hazards (e.g., faulty locks, broken lights, slippery floors).
- Complete daily activity logs and incident reports accurately and thoroughly.
- Comply with all hotel safety, health, and emergency policies and procedures.
- Cooperate with other departments and maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
What we would like you to bring to the position:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Security Guard License (as required by local jurisdiction).
- First Aid / CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- WHMIS or other safety certifications considered an asset.
- Strong observational and situational awareness skills.
- Calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to remain composed, tactful, and respectful when dealing with sensitive situations.
- Team player with a proactive and responsible work ethic.
- Basic computer and report-writing skills.
