Pioneer Construction is looking for hard-working, self-motivated employees with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of heavy equipment operator in the Dubreuilville, Ontario area for the 2025-2026 winter season. The successful candidates will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, and independence. This is a full-time seasonal position from September 2025 to April 2026, with the possibility of extension. This position is available with competitive wages and a benefits package.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely operating heavy equipment including excavators, graders, backhoes, and loaders with experience in excavator/backhoe loading requirements.
- Clear snow and ice from access roads, driveways, parking lots, work sites, and other areas using appropriate heavy equipment.
- Perform general labourer duties such as clearing snow from high traffic and critical infrastructure areas including entrances, access roads, emergency exits, and equipment pads when required.
- Spread salt, sand, and other de-icing materials using appropriate equipment.
- Perform daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment and attend daily safety meetings.
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
- Complete daily inspections and reporting of production.
- Identify, report and correct hazards.
- Secure special attachments to equipment.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment when required.
- Operate hydraulic pumping systems.
- Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
- Team player and display professionalism toward our company and customers.
- Perform regular cleaning of motor vehicles and mobile equipment to control dust (inside and outside cab).
- Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Maintain accurate electronic hours of service logs and vehicle inspection logs.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
- Work schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off. Day shifts and night shifts as required.
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
Education:
- Valid G Class Driver’s License is required.
- Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy equipment is required.
- Prior experience in snow removal and winter maintenance positions is considered an asset.
- Valid Certification to operate a hydraulic Excavator is required.
- Surface Miner Common Core is considered an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third party testing requirements (drug and alcohol testing and a Criminal Background Check (CPIC) and any other requirements they impose on contractors).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a cheerful outlook and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
