Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. Our team has had tremendous growth in the last year and we are excited to keep expanding. We are looking to hire an experienced Heavy Civil Foreman to join our growing team. We have lots of exciting projects on the go and coming up soon in the HRM area! Reporting to the Superintendent and Project Management Team, this position is responsible for directing and managing all on-site construction workers and equipment, enforcing the company’s directions, policies, procedures, and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines.


Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a construction setting.
  • Experience in either excavation or flatworks, pipe, concrete, asphalt paving, or grading.
  • Able to work in a team environment and provide guidance to your crew.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Foremen are responsible to lead and direct people, equipment, and resources on ARCP construction sites.
  • Engage in open communication with the Superintendent and Project Managers and report any issues that could affect the project.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Plan work in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Read and interpret project plan and specifications.
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance.
  • Monitor the behaviours, attitudes, and actions of their crew member to ensure they do not impact the safety of themselves or their co-workers.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained. This includes cleaning and greasing as required.


Site Safety

Foremen are directly responsible for ensuring all tasks are performed at minimum in accordance with OHS regulatory requirements.

These include and are not limited to:

  • excavating and trenching
  • confined space
  • working from heights
  • working in or around roads and vehicle traffic
  • working in the vicinity of powerlines
