Production Manager
The Generalist Boot Maker plays a key role in the production of high-quality, handcrafted boots. This role requires versatility across multiple stages of the bootmaking process - from cutting and stitching to lasting and finishing – with a commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in traditional techniques, and adapts quickly to shifting production priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Craftsmanship
· Perform a variety of bootmaking tasks, including cutting, skiving, stitching, lasting, sole attachment, and finishing.
· Follow established patterns, templates, and quality specifications for each style.
· Operate and maintain a range of machinery and hand tools used in boot production.
· Inspect materials and components for quality before and during assembly.
Quality Assurance
· Ensure all boots meet brand quality standards for fit, durability, and esthetic finish.
· Identify and report any defects, inconsistencies, or equipment issues promptly.
Workflow & Efficiency
· Support multiple stages of production to meet daily and weekly output targets.
· Assist in cross-training and knowledge-sharing to maintain production flexibility.
· Follow safe work practices and keep the workstation organized and clean.
Collaboration
· Work closely with fellow boot makers, pattern cutters, and production leads to ensure smooth workflow.
· Communciate effectively about material needs, process improvements, or bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience in footwear manufacturing, leatherwork, or a related craft-based trade.
· Proficiency with hand tools and industrial sweing machines.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
· Ability to work standing for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to different production stages as needed.
Preferred
· Experience with Western or heritage boot styles.
· Knowledge of leather types, treatments, and footwear construction methods.
· Ability to read and follow technical specifications, drawings, or patterns.
Physical Requirements
· Manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
· Ability to lift up to 25kg (55 lbs) occassionally.
· Comfortable working in a production environment with machinery, adhesives, and dyes.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
