Logistics Specialist
Role Summary :
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for executing shipments, reporting transportation metrics, remediating issues pertaining to safety, on-time delivery, as well as transportation damage, and ultimately ensuring that internal and external customers’ needs are fulfilled within accordance of company and industry policies.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and monitors Canada domestic and Int’l Inbound shipments with compliance to company and industry standards.
- Ensures appropriate carrier and service level are selected based on company objectives for delivery and cost
- Maintains shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information to customers on request
- Manages invoices pertaining to transportation and packaging expenses
- Pro-actively addresses performance defects to ensure successful operations
- Identifies and supports initiatives conducive to greater efficiency and cost savings
- Cross-functionally collaborates with internal key stakeholders to support continual improvement
- Proficient knowledge of logistics terminology and operations, including various modes of transportation and the considerations for pricing and routing
- Understanding of Canada Customs, IATA, and Canada Transportation regulations pertinent to transportation
- Comprehension of supply chain processes and lean manufacturing concepts
- Involvement in identifying and resolving complex issues
- Experience in recording, maintaining, and reporting accurate data
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field
- Demonstrated ability to professionally read, write, and speak in English
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
- Adept communication and analytical skills
- Proficient with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to successfully resolve problems with internal and external stakeholders
- Prior experience within manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain management
- Proven ability to prioritize various initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment
