The Role
MEOW Foundation is seeking a passionate and results-driven Fund Development Associate to join our dedicated team. This new role will focus on building and strengthening relationships with donors, corporate partners and the community, to grow MEOW’s fundraising capacity. The ideal candidate will be a mid-level, mid-career fundraiser with proven success in securing major donors including corporate donors, donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns and a love for cats.
Reporting to the Director, Fund Development, the Fund Development Associate will develop and implement strategies to secure funding from individuals, corporations, foundations and other revenue streams while ensuring an exceptional donor experience that aligns with MEOW’s values and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute and evaluate fundraising campaigns, appeals and support third-party events to meet annual revenue targets ($xxxx+ or % expected).
- Identify, cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, including major donors, monthly supporters and legacy contributors.
- Research, write and submit grant proposals and sponsorship packages to corporate and foundation partners.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop donor-focused content, including impact stories, MEOWZine newsletters and stewardship reports.
- Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, gifts and stewardship activities in the donor management database, Donor Perfect.
- Manage and support the Fund Development Committee, providing updates, reports and recommendations.
- Act as a MEOW ambassador at events, tours and presentations, ensuring a positive and inspiring donor experience.
- Nurture a culture of philanthropy and champion the mission and guiding values of MEOW Foundation throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support special initiatives and community partnerships.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift donors ($25,000+) through all stages of the donor cycle.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations or a related role (nonprofit and animal welfare experience is an asset).
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, marketing or a related field; CFRE designation or equivalent experience is an asset.
- Proven track record in securing philanthropic gifts and sponsorships ($25,000+).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in donor databases and giving software (e.g., GiveCloud, DonorPerfect, TipTap, CanadaHelps) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A passion for animal welfare and alignment with MEOW’s mission and values.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while staying highly organized and balancing competing priorities.
- Compassionate, mature, and thoughtful in judgement and behaviour.
- A bias for action and meeting or exceeding key performance requirements.

- Candidate must be comfortable commuting within the Calgary area to our locations and various events.
- Hours of work are flexible Monday – Sunday including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support organizational needs and special events.
