The Supervisor will report to the Director of Programs and is responsible for providing leadership in keeping with BGC’s agency values and ensuring equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging are at the base of all programming and decision making. The programs provide settings to meet the needs of children and families in a group setting within a safe and welcoming environment. The Supervisor will promote anti-bias education to combat issues that create prejudice and create a sense of belonging for all children. The Supervisor will support the development of a culture rich in reflective practice so that professional learning happens day after day in the program as we work with children, families, and each other. The Supervisor will promote a deep belief in being active for life learning and growth, as shown through an open-mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
● Create active programs that allow youth to discover interests and foster a love for physical activity
● Recruit, supervise, actively mentor and train staff, placement students and volunteers
● Encourage and promote lifelong learning and healthy lifestyles to children and youth
● Develop and implement programs based on member needs and feedback and promote anti-bias education for the purpose of inclusive programming and as a base for decision making
● Build relationships with children, youth and families to create a sense of belonging and support
● Manage program budgets
● Maintain professional relationships with community partners

The ideal candidate will have:
- A commitment to innovation, inclusion, excellence and evidence-based practice
- A commitment to the Clubs mission, Vision, Core Values and Outcome Framework (which includes fostering environments that allow members to be active and well, have respect for self, others and environment, curious and love learning, expressing themselves and feel valued, build positive and caring relationships)
- A passion for physical activity and creating active programs for children and youth, as well as shaping meaningful experiences and creating lasting impact
- A belief in equity, opportunity, and the potential of every child
- A university or college degree in recreation or a related field and minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Extensive knowledge and experience in program implementation and supervision
- Established leadership skills including the ability to contribute to the creation of positive team and workplace dynamic
- Demonstrated empathy, approachability and an understanding of others
- Successful experience working with a diverse population
- The ability to streamline, prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively and be well organized
- Valid G license
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid/CPR-Level C (Red Cross preferred)
