Title: Foundry Helper Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, Represented (USW 9042) Location: Mississauga, ON
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the primary role of the Foundry Helper is to operate mixers, pumps, cranes, fork lift trucks and other equipment to handle materials used during manufacturing and related activities.
• Follow procedures for meeting production requirements loading kettles with appropriate furnace metal and refining to customer specifications • Operate mixers, pumps, cranes, forklift trucks and other equipment to handle materials used during manufacturing and related activities • Take samples of metal for analysis and correct it to required specifications following standard operating procedures • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill regularly maintainable parts of equipment • Manual material handling and wearing all required and provided PPE including respirators • Prepare sow or ingot molds, clean surface oxides and stamp for identification • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Experience, Qualifications & Education
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred • College or industry courses in heavy industrial manufacturing relevant to foundry work are an asset • Experience with lift truck/overhead crane operation preferred • Internal company certification to be completed upon employment • Training provided, continual maintenance and upgrades • Physical strength is required for manual material handling • Must be comfortable with continuous lifting/shoveling up to 50 lbs • Prolonged standing, walking and some minimal climbing of ladders and stairs • Wearing mandatory PPE including respirator mask at all times during working hours • Ability to work in a challenging environment with higher operating temperatures up to 50 degrees C
