As the Fair Entry Pre-screener, you will be responsible for conducting the initial review of applications and documents for in-person applicants to the Fair Entry program; to verify that they meet basic eligibility or completeness requirements before advancing them to the next stage of processing. In this position, you will play a gatekeeper role in assisting applicants who are missing necessary components to complete the application process as planned, which expedites service for those who have completed everything properly. Primary duties include:

  • Explain program eligibility requirements, review documents, and answer questions the applicant may have before reaching the counter for processing.
  • Flag issues, errors, or inconsistencies for correction.
  • Use a software system for queuing applicants who are applying in-person at any of the program's sites.
  • Welcome applicants to the Fair Entry site, represent the program, be sensitive to the needs of vulnerable patrons, and use effective verbal communication to convey important program information.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly, protecting applicants' privacy.
Qualifications
  • A completed 1 year Certificate and at least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and previous experience working in complex database applications is required.
  • Formal training in crisis de-escalation as an asset.
  • Training in cultural awareness is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of City of Calgary services will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service and conflict resolution, decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, sensitivity, and the ability to prioritize work in a high volume and fast paced environment.
Pre-employment Requirements
  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Compensation: Pay Grade 4 $28.82 - 38.51 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
