Wanting to join our exceptional hospitality team? We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Full-time Facility Maintenance Technician to join our Facility Services department.
Position Overview
Our Facility Maintenance Technician’s primary focus is maintaining and repairing (or assist in coordinating the repair) of mechanical, electrical, structural, and building finishes and other related services providing a well-maintained venue for hosting events driving economic impact for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to complete work orders efficiently
- Effectively communicate with colleagues/clients
- Responsible for checking control systems including mechanical HVAC, electrical, plumbing,
- Maintain understanding of facility management system, fire alarm control panels, security functions and equipment operation.
- Monitor facility management computer system; investigate alarms/warnings; and ensure prompt response to indications of any damage or danger.
- Schedule and alter temperatures, lighting, mag locks, escalator, elevator, air handling unit operation as required for scheduled events
- Complete Preventive Maintenance Program scheduled tasks; logging completion as directed, to ensure optimal functionality of Facilities.
- Perform hands-on miscellaneous maintenance functions including furniture/equipment repairs, air filter changes, painting, hook installations, lamp/fixtures replacement, etc.
- Operate freight elevators, scissor lift, forklift and other equipment as required.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new efficiencies/services/products to reduce impact on our environment.
- Receive deliveries as required, assisting large vehicles entering the loading dock if required.
- Assist with BAS scheduling to ensure perimeter doors are scheduled to open and close based on client scheduled events and all interior spaces are at an appropriate temperature for the enjoyment of event attendees
- Ensure all lights and interior systems including signage are working properly prior to scheduled events
- Assist with power drops as required for tradeshows and all other scheduled events
- Ensure adherence to safe methods of work, use and storage of maintenance supplies, building equipment and tools.
- Responsible for keeping the loading dock and maintenance areas clean and organized
- Conduct security rounds of the parking garage and interior to ensure a safe and secure venue
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to identify maintenance needs and report findings to supervisors
Job Skills and Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in building maintenance/construction
- Knowledge of building systems (BAS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing) general maintenance practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with building systems and equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and climbing ladders.
- Perform unsupervised trade/technical requirements of the position once training is completed
- Mechanical/technical education and experience preferred
- Specific trades experience an asset.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows 365 required.
- Working at Heights certification and forklift license an asset
Hours of Work/Working Conditions
The Facility Maintenance Technician will work a variety of hours including days, evenings, and weekends to support the Facility Services team.
The Facility Maintenance Technician will work onsite at 300 York Street, London.
Total Compensation
Wages: $33.05/hour + premium for skilled trade certificate may be applicable per hour
