As the successful candidate, you will identify, manage and track terrestrial wildlife to contribute to the success of the wildlife management system. You will assist with amphibian, fisheries and wildlife monitoring including conducting extensive field work and the creation of reports. - Job location: Fort McMurray, AB – Albian or Horizon Oil Sands Site
- Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday – Thursday) or 8 days on, 6 days off, 10 hours/day (Wednesday – Wednesday)
- Term length: 8 months
- Term start: May 2026
- Safety sensitive position: Yes
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with amphibian, fisheries and wildlife monitoring including conducting extensive field work and the creation of reports
- Track and record all field and laboratory data
- Contribute to surface water quality monitoring as required
- Identify, manage and track terrestrial wildlife to contribute to the success of the wildlife management system
- Assist with wildlife regulatory reporting requirements
- Collaborate with Environmental Specialists, Regulatory Coordinators, and Academic Researchers during their site work
- Generate supporting data and forms for regulatory application submissions
- Support the inspection of project facilities for environmental compliance tracking
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in your 3rd, or 4th year of a Biology, Natural Science, or Environmental program
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract
- Previous ATV and/or watercraft experience considered an asset
- Previous environmental or oil sands experience considered an asset
