The ELCC Supervisor provides administrative, instructional, and supervisory support to the ELCC Faculty Department Head and faculty. This role assists with day-to-day operations, faculty supervision, instructional support, and program organization. The Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining curriculum integrity, upholding faculty standards, and fostering positive working relationships across departments.
Working closely with the Department Head, Faculty, Lead Instructors, and Practicum team, this position ensures smooth program delivery, consistent communication, and effective problem-solving for student concerns. The role requires initiative, strong organizational skills, and the ability to uphold program standards through collaboration and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Administration
- Assist with daily operations of the ELCC program in alignment with program goals, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support course scheduling, instructor assignments, and classroom bookings.
- Maintain program records, including course outlines, grading rubrics, and faculty assignments.
- Distribute program updates and announcements to faculty, students, and relevant departments.
- Organize and maintain program files (digital and physical) for audit and reporting needs.
- Ensure all Dayforce tasks (scheduling, shift authorizations, hours adjustments, time away requests, etc.) are completed weekly and within payroll timelines.
- Assisting managing program resources, including facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Seek opportunities to streamline activities and improve service quality. \
- Supervise assigned ELCC instructors, including Practicum Instructors.
- Assist with onboarding and training new faculty to ensure program consistency.
- Monitor use of standardized curriculum materials, teaching approaches, and assessment methods; ensure compliance in all classes.
- Participate in faculty observations, feedback sessions, meetings, and development activities.
- Maintain open communication with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to staff, communicate program expectations, and support faculty needs.
- Coordinate faculty meeting logistics and support professional development activities.
- Work closely with the Department Head in decision making and campus-level issues.
- Support Practicum Instructors to ensure practicum delivery and evaluation align with standards.
- Collaborate with the Practicum team on placement schedules and tracking.
- Address practicum-related issues, gathering details and referring them to the Department Head when needed.
- Support practicum workshops and student check-in sessions.
- Serve as one of the first points of contact for general student questions and direct complex issues to the Department Head.
- Connect students to advising, academic resources, and practicum supports.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- When teaching:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans.
- Facilitate discussions that encourage participation.
- Create a safe classroom culture built on respect and openness.
- Evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and track progress.
- Ensure program activities meet Alberta ELCC Regulation requirements.
- Monitor adherence to health, safety, and ethical standards.
- Participate in curriculum updates and program improvement projects.

- Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Early Learning and Child Care, or related field (Degree an asset).
- Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification (or eligible for Level 3).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in adult education; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (training in Administration an asset).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning management systems (e.g., Moodle).
- Experience supervising staff or leading teams in an educational or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of licensing regulations and accreditation standards for early childhood programs.
- Conflict resolution and staff coaching skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with senior management and within a faculty structure.
- Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
- Familiarity with Alberta’s Flight: Early Learning and Care Framework.
- Full-time, campus-based position with occasional travel to practicum sites.
- Evening or weekend work may be required.
- Must be able to attend both Edmonton and Calgary campuses when requested.
