Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drywall installation and finishing, with expertise in applying tape and joint compound to create smooth, seamless surfaces. This role requires attention to detail, a solid understanding of construction processes, and the ability to read blueprints. The Taper will work closely with other tradespeople to ensure high-quality finishes on various projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply tape and joint compound to drywall seams and corners to achieve a smooth finish.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding and cleaning as necessary before applying finishing materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications to ensure accurate installation.
- Collaborate with carpenters and other construction professionals to coordinate work schedules and project timelines.
- Perform caulking around windows, doors, and other openings as needed.
- Conduct quality checks on finished work to ensure compliance with standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Assist in construction painting tasks when required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Taper or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong skills in drywall installation, finishing, caulking, and painting.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand project specifications effectively.
- Experience as a maintenance person or in related trades is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks associated with the job.
