Are you a natural leader with a passion for keeping things moving smoothly? We’re looking for an Operations Manager to take charge of daily dock operations in our Dartmouth Terminal. In this key role, you’ll oversee the flow of equipment and freight, build strong team relationships, and ensure we’re delivering exceptional service every step of the way.
You’ll play a hands-on role in driving performance, quality, and safety—all while keeping costs efficient and customers satisfied.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Dartmouth Terminal, ensuring freight moves efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with other terminals and departments to remove barriers, maximize equipment usage, and reduce costs.
- Build and support a high-performing team by fostering trust, accountability, and open communication.
- Review reports and data to identify opportunities for improvement and make informed decisions.
- Partner with Regional Managers and Dispatch to plan staffing and equipment needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, training, and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
- 5+ years in transportation, logistics, or a related field (education/certifications like CITT are a plus).
- 2+ years of terminal supervisory experience.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop your team.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office (TruckMate experience an asset).
- Knowledge of the road transportation industry including Atlantic Canadian geography is an asset.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7am – 5pm with flexibility to support weekends, evenings, or holidays when needed.
