CBC, Canada’s National media company is looking for a Director of Identity Strategy & Products. This role reports to the Senior Director of Platform Products, and it will be part of a 200+ employee team responsible for building and driving performance across a suite of digital media products including: cbc.ca, CBC News app, CBC Gem and CBC Listen. Every month, CBC reaches over 17 million people in Canada through our ecosystem. The Director of Identity Strategy & Products will be responsible for leading and evolving the organization’s collection, management, and usage of data from our CBC account holders. You will be responsible for developing a strategic roadmap that includes the capabilities to register and authenticate users, collect profile data and explicit preferences, manage consent, segment users and activate those segments for revenue, marketing, loyalty, and product customization purposes. Your passion for developing and empowering people to achieve ambitious outcomes will be essential in growing CBC audiences and revenue through our digital platforms.
As a leader, you will play a critical role in the overall data strategy for the corporation, collaborating with colleagues across Radio-Canada, Technology and Infrastructure, Media Solutions (Digital Advertising Sales), Marketing and Corporate Research. How you will make an impact:
- Set a Strategic Roadmap that defines the opportunities in a 1-3 year timespan.
- Coordinate teams to plan and execute strategic priorities.
- People manage, coach and co-create priorities for 5-6 Product and Data Operations Managers that would report to you.
- Coach your managers to work with cross-functional teams to assess opportunities for value, business viability, technical feasibility and usability.
- Address team blockers and make decisions in a timely manner, or, escalate cases of competing priorities with urgency as needed.
- Work with product, engineering, and design leadership to improve our practices around product discovery, delivery, measuring success, and making data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate and negotiate with your counter-parts at Radio Canada to align Harmonized Product Roadmaps to Strategic Priorities.
- Collaborate and negotiate with your counterpart in Media Solutions to introduce innovative ad technology that increases our eCPM and overall revenue.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Lifecycle Marketing leaders to enable the capabilities that improve campaign performance that leads to user conversion and deeper engagement of our products.
- Collaborate with Audience Facing Product leaders to prioritize the integration of platform products while respecting their capacity constraints and broader product strategy objectives
- Manage vendor relationships: Forecasting for cost, and measuring the value from our platform investments.
- Lead or contribute to business cases for new technology platforms.
What you bring to our team:
- 3+ years in a product leadership and/or data leadership role.
- Depth of expertise in data platforms and managing technical products.
- Experience in product management and coaching product managers and owners.
- Experience in data governance and establishing governance practices.
- Knowledgeable in agile methodologies and software development practices.
- Strong communication skills to provide context to team members at different levels of technical and business acumen.
- Experience supporting distributed and hybrid teams.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and within a highly matrixed organization.
- Leads with influence instead of authority.
- Experience in the media or publishing industry is a bonus but not required.
