Looking for a job that keeps you moving, outdoors, and surrounded by animals of all temperaments?
You might be the next Dog Jogger & Pet Care Pro on our team!
We’re Dog Jogs, a pet care company built around reliability, teamwork, and the joy of seeing tails wag. If you’re the kind of person who loves a good jog, doesn’t mind a little fur on your clothes, and can handle surprises with a calm head and a sense of humour, keep reading.
What’s the role really like?
Picture this: you hop in your car, podcast playing, heading to your first jog of the day. The sun’s out (or maybe it’s lightly snowing, this is Edmonton, after all). You spend the next few hours jogging dogs, visiting cats, and sending updates to their grateful humans.
Every dog is different. Some are relaxed and friendly right away, others need a little time and space to feel comfortable. You might encounter barking, leash pulling, or nervous energy, your calm presence and ability to read dog body language will help them feel at ease. Confidence and composure are key when working solo with dogs of all temperaments.
This could be a great fit if you:
- Are active and love being outdoors in all seasons
- Feel comfortable working with dogs who bark, lunge, or need space from others
- Have some experience with dog body language, reactivity, or are open to learning fast
- Can handle change and curveballs without spiralling
- Like being the person others count on (reliable is your middle name)
- Are great at managing your own time and solving problems on the fly
- Want to grow your skills (we do training, reactivity work, and more!)
- Are in it for at least a year, not just for now
If you’re nervous around big dogs or startle easily when a dog barks, this role might not be the right fit.
The nitty-gritty:
- Pay starts at $15/hr, plus client tips. Most staff earn up to $1200/month, depending on availability
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 10am–3pm, plus one weekend a month
- Be able to jog at 6–10km/hr and walk 3–10km/day
- Have a reliable vehicle and data-enabled smartphone
- Must be 18+, legally eligible to work in Canada, and provide a clear police check
- We work in Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, and Beaumont
- Experience with pet care, dog walking, or basic reactivity work is a plus
- Must be confident working independently with dogs who may bark, pull, or react on leash
What you’ll get:
- A supportive team that’s got your back
- Flexible part-time hours (15–25 a week)
- Built-in fitness, fresh air, and furry friends
- The chance to build real relationships with both pets and people
- Growth and training opportunities if you’re eager to learn
Where this role can take you:
We’re not just hiring for the season. We’re looking for people who want to stick around, grow with us, and maybe even take on more responsibility down the road.
After your 3-month probation, if you're working at least 3 days a week and things are going well, there's the opportunity to become a Head Jogger, a role that includes training new staff, answering questions, and helping keep everyone on the same page. Head Joggers receive a pay bump to reflect the added responsibility.
At the 6-month mark, if you're working 4+ days a week, you may be eligible to step into a Team Lead role. Team Leads juggle a bit of everything: they continue with pet care, support new and current staff, give feedback, assist with scheduling, and reply to client messages when needed. Team Leads also receive a pay increase.
If you're the type who naturally steps up, enjoys helping others succeed, and wants to build something long-term, we’d love to help you grow with us.
