The Program of Experimental Medicine (POEM) mandate is to pull together, strategically and operationally, the research activity of the Department into a single structure. The POEM aims to support the research environment and leadership to enable unbridled research excellence and success for the DOM faculty.
Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting the research mission within the Department of Medicine (DOM) in alignment with the DOM’s strategic plan. The role will support and collaborate with researchers to understand their data requirements, and provide information, analyses and ad hoc reports for a variety of internal and external stakeholders to support research activities within the Department. The Data Analyst will also gather, analyze, evaluate and report on various metrics from a range of sources to understand the research, academic and clinical performance within the Department.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Statistics or another related field
Experience:
- 2 years experience in data analysis and reporting in a research environment
- Experience working with large data sets and using report generation software
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of best practices for quantifying research productivity metrics
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations
- A desire to grow and advance skills, which is demonstrated by attending conferences, workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance performance
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate University guidelines, policies and practices to key stakeholders
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Available to work outside standard business hours on occasion
